Employees of a Microsoft Store in Mission Viejo, California, recently started line dancing to the Black Eyed Peas. This looks like a lot of fun. See for yourself!
This combined with a fewotherthings that I have seen recently has inspired me with a great way to celebrate how much Mozilla has done to contribute to the internet.
Okay so here is what I have come up with…
We get all those who can play/compose music to create a piece of music that shows the spirit of the Mozilla Community (5mins max maybe).
We get all those in the community who can write songs and poems together to come up with an awesome to represent the enthusiasum of the Mozilla Community.
Get the entire community to sing and dance to the song with Mozilla logos (Firefox, Thunderbird, etc…).
Mash it all together with some lyrics and maybe some motion graphics (in the music video).
Release the song (after some editing) and see if it can make the charts!
So to review we would have a song, writen by, composed by, played by, and sung by the Mozilla Community. Lets make history and be the first software community to make a record that hits the charts!
Any comments on improvements or flaws in thie idea then please comment below (forum style) and we can refine and improve upon this!
Mozilla is coming up on a huge milestone soon. It happens to be the 5 year anniversary of Mozilla Firefox. Less than one week after November the 5th no less! How very dare they Well okay you may not get that but November the 5th is a big, big event in Lewes (find out more) and it involves a lot of light. If I had known at the a few months earlier that Mozilla planned to celebrate this anniversary with light, I would have done something spectacular. Now though. There is no chance for me to put plan A into action so now I am thinking of plan B. The idea of the whole “Light the world with Firefox” is to put together for the most creative uses of the Firefox logo with light.
Here are some of the ideas Mozilla have provided but don’t feel limited by these. Go do something creative!
Spotlight: Borrow a projectorand shine the Firefox logo on the wall during a Firefox party, or make a logo stencil and place it in front of a flashlight for a cool effect (think shadow puppets). Or, go crazy and get a searchlight to create your very own Firefox “bat signal“.
Mash-Up: Think of the most interesting way you can combine Firefox and light. For example, create the logo out of candles on a birthday cake, program your very own lite-brite or light show, or create a fun wallpaper! If you’re really have a lot of time on your hands (and skills) you could even create a light show. The more creative, the better.
Mobile: Get the Firefox logo on your phone and take a picture holding it in front of a local landmark. Or, organize a bunch of friends for a big group photo with the logo on everyone’s phones.
There are other ways you can celebrate, including the good old fashioned party, which, should you host, you need to invite me to
There is also a facebook group as well as a twibbon! So you have no excuse for doing nothing to celebrate this one off event. There wont be another party quite like this for another 5 years! Make the most of it!
Oh, and one last thing of note. There is a hashtag for you to use for any videos, pictures or blog posts. #firefox 5
Okay so it is now about 1 week since MozCamp EU 2009, and, the first thing that comes to my mind about the event is “Did everyone who booked the 5am shuttle on the Monday get it okay?” Sad I know but… I did organize it and should it have all gone tits up the blame falls on me! I want to have left a good and lasting impression on the European Mozilla Community. So enough of my shortcomings. Lets get to my round-up of the event!
The event first started for me when I arrived at Ruzyne airport and I met up with 2 members of the Mozilla Community. I shared a taxi with them instead of using the free transport ticket, which, gave time to get to know them both a little better. That night dinner was found at a nice little pizza pallor where I got a pasta I can’t eat pizza at a pizza pallor. That would be insane! Read the rest of this entry »
It is not often that, in this day and age, someone will sit down and write a letter, an I mean write one by hand. It is so much more convenient and a lot quicker to simply type it up on a computer. It has gotten to the point where handwriting is now more of an art than a form of communication.
This is in no small part due to modern technology. This adds to the art of using pen and paper, whether the text be for diary or letter.
Maybe it is okay that writting is becoming a rarity and art form. Maybe it is okay that modern man is becoming more reliant on machine to aid us in expressing ourselves.
One thing that we should all do from time to time is partake in this art. I challenge you to write, by hand, one letter to a friend or family member before the end of the month. Trust me, it will feel good in itself and the response will be soo much better. That little extra time makes all the difference.
Okay so rather than reposting all my older postings from the internet that are dotted around the place I will only be summarizing them here and linking to their online locations. It may take you a little longer BUT it will take me less time AND it means that Google wont have a hissy fit with me for reposting a lot of content
