Gorjan's PersonaEver wanted to change the wallpapers in your room? 3 times a day? Well with Firefox 3.6 that is now possible for your browser thanks to its integrated Personas.[1] With more than 30000 personas to choose from (and more every day), you can theme Firefox just the way you like it. It’s super easy as well to create your very own Personas and add them to the gallery, and be among thousands of other designers from all over the world!

To help us find out which Personas out there you love the most, we present you with a  challenge, to help celebrate the launch of Firefox 3.6 and its newest and possibly greatest feature. We want you to show off your Firefox with your favourite Personas installed. We have even taken the time out to do it have already done our own Perosna-portraits ourselves, as well as and provided you with some great tools to help you get started.

So what are you waiting for? Head to www.spreadfirefox.com/get-personas and share your style with the world!

Oh, and the picture you see here? That is Gorjan from Mozilla Macedonia showing off just one of the ways you can join in!

[1] For those of you that are new to the Personas feature, they are lightweight themes for Firefox that are easy to install and chage without the need to restart your browser.

Lighting up the whole world!

Mozilla is coming up on a huge milestone soon. It happens to be the 5 year anniversary of Mozilla Firefox. Less than one week after November the 5th no less! How very dare they :P Well okay you may not get that but November the 5th is a big, big event in Lewes (find out more) and it involves a lot of light. If I had known at the a few months earlier that Mozilla planned to celebrate this anniversary with light, I would have done something spectacular. Now though. There is no chance for me to put plan A into action so now I am thinking of plan B. The idea of the whole “Light the world with Firefox” is to put together for the most creative uses of the Firefox logo with light.

Here are some of the ideas Mozilla have provided but don’t feel limited by these. Go do something creative!

  • Spotlight: Borrow a projectorand shine the Firefox logo on the wall during a Firefox party, or make a logo stencil and place it in front of a flashlight for a cool effect (think shadow puppets). Or, go crazy and get a searchlight to create your very own Firefox “bat signal“.
  • Mash-Up: Think of the most interesting way you can combine Firefox and light. For example, create the logo out of candles on a birthday cake, program your very own lite-brite or light show, or create a fun wallpaper! If you’re really have a lot of time on your hands (and skills) you could even create a light show.  The more creative, the better.
  • Mobile: Get the Firefox logo on your phone and take a picture holding it in front of a local landmark. Or, organize a bunch of friends for a big group photo with the logo on everyone’s phones.

There are other ways you can celebrate, including the good old fashioned party, which, should you host, you need to invite me to :P

There is also a facebook group as well as a twibbon! So you have no excuse for doing nothing to celebrate this one off event. There wont be another party quite like this for another 5 years! Make the most of it!

Oh, and one last thing of note. There is a hashtag for you to use for any videos, pictures or blog posts. #firefox 5

#eumozcamp09 A Unique Round-Up

MozCamp PragueOkay so it is now about 1 week since MozCamp EU 2009, and, the first thing that comes to my mind about the event is “Did everyone who booked the 5am shuttle on the Monday get it okay?” Sad I know but… I did organize it and should it have all gone tits up the blame falls on me! I want to have left a good and lasting impression on the European Mozilla Community. So enough of my shortcomings. Lets get to my round-up of the event!

The event first started for me when I arrived at Ruzyne airport and I met up with 2 members of the Mozilla Community. I shared a taxi with them instead of using the free transport ticket, which, gave time to get to know them both a little better. That night dinner was found at a nice little pizza pallor where I got a pasta :P I can’t eat pizza at a pizza pallor. That would be insane! Read the rest of this entry »

FuzzyFox joins Tumblr!

TumblrOkay so my main blog is still going to be here. It is still going to be wordpress based (keeps life simple). BUT. I will be trying out Tumblr and will be using it as my mobile blog. This means that I can more easily post a regular blog from my phone without the hassle of fighting wordpress and my mobile browser. Which, shame to say, is not Fennec at this current time due to some size issues. So keep posted with my main blog where you will find my better, longer posts, at the same time keep your eyes open on fuzzyfox.tumblr.com for more up-to-the-minute randomness from a crazed loon, that is just a bit too long for twitter.

The perfect twitter for a Mozilla Fan Boy!

MozillacaMozillaca (based on Laconica) is a free micro-blogging tool for those of us in the Mozilla community. Powered by a team of volunteers, this site allows not only an insight into the minds of Mozilla community members, but a select few Mozilla workers too!

Now for those of you that don’t know what micro-blogging is think of twitter. Twitter is one of the biggest micro-blogging tools there are. Don’t know about twitter? Then lets make this easy.

This is a blog. I can type as much as I want in each post, I can add images, videos, music… but this is not the case with micro-blogging. A micro-blog post can only have upto 140 characters (letters), no pictures, videos, music or anything else. It allows you to quickly share a site of interest, or what you are thinking off!

Mozillaca extends on this slightly by allowing you to add attachments relevant to each post you make, and it calls posts “mozes” (twitter calls them tweets).

So if you are a Mozilla fan boy (or girl) like me… then I don’t think I need to say much more other than meet you there!

Follow me on Mozillaca. I’m not that hard to miss :P
